Dr. Michael Williams

Dr. Michael Williams is a licensed psychologist who has worked with diverse populations and has spent over 16 years working for the U.S. Government, including with the Indian Health Service and Veteran’s Affairs. Dr. Williams believes all people can change and utilizes a cognitive behavioral, short term therapy approach overall. He is eclectic in practice, seeking to meet and match each client’s unique presentation of strengths and vulnerabilities. He is definitely “client centered” in process while CBT-based in theoretical orientation. This eclectic base includes a trauma informed, culturally appropriate approach. He seeks to match process and strategy to the client’s internalized world view and risk and protective factors from their perspective, to the extent that he is able.

Dr. Williams obtained his doctorate in psychology from Utah State University in Logan, Utah. He also has a post doctorate masters degree in clinical psychopharmacology from Alliant International University, located in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. He is an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota Tribe and grew up on the Pine Ridge Reservation. He is also an honorable discharged U.S. Army veteran.
